Google Reinvents Search With AI-Powered Search Experiences
Google has unveiled its biggest search engine update in over 25 years, making search significantly more AI-driven.
The company introduced new AI-powered search capabilities designed to help users refine and expand their queries, discover relevant information more easily, and receive updates on topics of interest. The company updated its search bar with smart query expansion and AI-powered recommendations that help users formulate more precise queries. Personalized information agents are also introduced, capable of tracking topics of interest and automatically selecting updates based on specified parameters. Google is also expanding the range of tasks that can be completed directly within Search, without requiring users to visit multiple websites.

Google’s primary goal is to transform search from a tool that directs users to other sites into a unified environment where users can get answers, track information, solve problems, and perform various actions without leaving the Google ecosystem.
According to Google, these AI-powered search experiences are already used by more than 1 billion people each month, with adoption continuing to grow rapidly.
Why should you care? The new search bar creates a need to adapt websites and content to the new search environment. In addition to classic SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation), structured data, high-quality content, visual materials, and the ability to fully respond to user queries are becoming increasingly important. While previously the primary goal was to attract clicks to a website, brand presence in AI-powered search results and other elements is now becoming increasingly important.

Microsoft Wins Typosquatting Dispute
Microsoft has won a dispute over a domain called ‘rnicrosoft.com.’ This address uses a common visual trick where the letters ‘r’ and ‘n’ look like an ‘m.’ This domain could have misled users by creating a false impression of association with the Microsoft brand.
This case is yet another example of typosquatting; the practice of registering domains that are visually or phonetically similar to well-known brands in order to use them for phishing, i.e., to redirect traffic, deceptively collect user data, distribute malicious content, or profit from users’ spelling mistakes.
The domain ‘rnicrosoft.com,’ registered in 2012, had long avoided association with typosquatting. In fact, it has never even had an active website. Perhaps this is why the opportunity to obtain this domain through the UDRP (Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy) procedure was not used earlier. However, Microsoft reported in its complaint that the disputed domain was used in phishing emails in late 2025.
The WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) panel decided to transfer the disputed domain to the plaintiff, despite the defendant only having passive ownership. The panel emphasized the worldwide recognition of the Microsoft brand, the presence of visual deception in the domain name, the almost complete visual similarity to the original, and the defendant's lack of explanation.
Why should you care? Combating phishing and domain abuse requires attention at all levels: from registrars (a platform where domain names in your chosen domain extension can be registered) and ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to website owners themselves. Even large companies with strong security systems face the risk of abuse by lookalike domains.
Complete protection from phishing is sadly impossible, but measures can be taken to save domain name owners and users. For instance, you can register the closest and most aesthetically pleasing variations of your primary domain and vigilantly monitor the online space. There are specialized tools for domain surveillance and brand protection, such as ZeroFox, Infoblox, and Zensec. These automate the process. Additional domains can be redirected to the main site, parked, or reserved for future projects, reducing the risk of loss of trust or phishing attacks.

Companies Still Lose Domains Due to Late Renewals — Atom Survey
Atom, a domain marketplace, surveyed company founders to learn if they had ever lost a domain name because they failed to renew it on time:
- 47% of respondents said they had never experienced renewal-related issues.
- 9% had lost a domain permanently.
- 10% had been forced to buy back a domain after losing it.
- 15% had experienced temporary domain loss.
- 20% said they had come close to losing their domain.
Despite a domain being one of a company’s key digital assets, its management and renewal processes are often neglected. 28%of respondents said they don’t monitor domain renewal dates or use automatic renewal tools.
An expired domain can quickly be registered by third parties, including cybersquatters or scammers..
Why should you care? Losing a domain doesn’t just mean temporary website downtime. A business can lose corporate email, traffic, customers, and audience trust.
To mitigate these risks, it’s essential to regularly check expiration dates, use auto-renewal, manage domains centrally, and keep owner information up-to-date.

ICANN Begins Next Major DNSSEC Security Upgrade
ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has announced the next phase of its DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) upgrade, a technology that helps protect the domain name system from data spoofing and other cyberattacks.
As part of the project, the organization will roll over the DNS (Domain Name System) Root Zone Key Signing Key. This cryptographic key is used to protect the DNS root zone, the foundation of the entire internet domain name system. The upgrade will be implemented in stages to ensure the stable operation of internet infrastructure worldwide.
DNSSEC verifies the authenticity of DNS records and helps prevent users from being redirected to counterfeit websites as a result of DNS manipulation. Although the upgrade will take place behind the scenes and most users are unlikely to notice any visible changes, it plays an important role in improving the overall security and reliability of internet services.
Why should you care? The security of domain infrastructure is becoming a key industry priority, and ICANN has long been paying special attention to this area. Such infrastructure updates such as DNSSEC security upgrade help protect both domain owners and users.
However, combating DNS abuse requires a comprehensive approach at all levels. Therefore, domain owners should continue to adhere to basic security practices like working with reliable registrars, correctly configuring DNS records, and verifying the integrity of SSL certificates to protect their brand, clients, and reputation.

Google Launches Pics, an AI Tool for Design and Marketing Materials
Google unveiled Pics, a new app within Google Workspace that uses artificial intelligence to create images, graphics, and marketing materials.
The tool allows you to create visual content using text queries, without the need for design or image editing skills. Users can quickly create graphics for social media, creative advertising, and marketing materials.
The tool is currently available to a limited number of testers and will be available to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the summer of 2026.
Why should you care? AI tools are becoming increasingly accessible and are lowering the barrier to creating visual content. Tasks that previously required specialized software or design skills can now be completed much faster using simple text prompts.
This creates new opportunities to accelerate content production, test creative ideas, and reduce the time needed to develop marketing materials. At the same time, as AI-generated content becomes more common, brand identity, creativity, and the ability to stand out from competitors may become even more important. Finding the right balance between automation and a distinctive brand voice will be a key challenge for marketers and content teams.
